While creating this drawing, Natacha imagined a multitude of Russian dolls, Napoleon-era Empire dresses, Red Square... Inspired by Maribor, on the border of the Ottoman and Austro-Hungarian Empires, this strong drawing sends you to this Slovenian town, full of history and influences.

Luoyang

Peonies are one of Natacha’s favorite flowers, which she draws delicate and wide open. It is also the emblem of Luoyang that welcomed it in the VIIIth Century. According to legend, Empress Wu Zetian “ordered” the Xian peonies to flower on a winter’s night. Without success. She then decided to banish the plant, whose flowers fall in winter, from the capital of the Chinese Empire.
